Center for Independent Futures (CIF) is seeking volunteers interested in co-facilitating inclusive social and educational activities for our participants alongside a CIF staff member. Activities co-facilitators act as an extra set of eyes, ears and hands, as well as offering positive reinforcement and encouragement to participants with disabilities. All volunteer co-facilitators will receive in-house training in person-centered support. Co-facilitators need to be committed to volunteering for at least one 2-4 hour activity per month.

Through CIF’s activity program, individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to participate in at least 15 different social activities a month that fulfill many different facets of a full life. Activities include: showing citizenship at a local soup kitchen, sporting events (professional and collegiate), concerts at Ravinia, hands on art projects, girls/guys nights & history club. Special events include: BBQ’s, bonfires, marching annually in the Disability Pride Parade and attending/volunteering at fundraising events.
After supporting CIF participants, our volunteers tell us that they take away much more than they give…that their lives are enriched through the experiences shared.
